Chinese prefab steel building manufacturer serving the Middle East. Sohar/Salalah port clearance, 15+ years export experience, oil equipment building expertise.
Sultanate of Oman is on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, a GCC member state. Rich in oil and gas resources, with economic diversification (logistics, tourism, manufacturing). Capital: Muscat. Main ports: Sohar Port and Salalah Port. Official language: Arabic, English widely used in business.
Oman has a tropical desert climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Coastal areas have high humidity, inland areas are dry.
Oman is on the Arabian Peninsula, wind loads primarily from summer southwest winds and winter northeast winds, with occasional tropical cyclones on the coast. Seismic activity is relatively low.
Oman building code system references international codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC). Steel projects can be designed per international or Chinese standards with English calculation packages.
Oman's main ports are Sohar Port (north, near UAE, industrial and logistics hub) and Salalah Port (south, major transshipment hub).
| Port | Location | Features | Shipping from China |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sohar Port | North coast | Industrial and logistics hub, near UAE, handles most industrial cargo | 18-25 days |
| Salalah Port | South coast | Major transshipment hub, container hub, serves southern region | 20-28 days |
| Muscat Port | Near capital | Handles general cargo and project cargo | 18-25 days |
| Duqm Port | Central coast | New industrial port, serves Duqm Special Economic Zone | 20-28 days |
Advice: Most projects import through Sohar or Salalah Port. Customs: 3-7 days. Inland transport: Muscat 2-3 days, Sohar industrial zone 1-2 days, Salalah 1-2 days. Total factory-to-site: ~25-35 days. Oman ports are efficient with relatively smooth customs clearance. Oil equipment projects typically in Sohar Industrial Zone or Duqm SEZ with convenient transport.
Area: 5,800 m² | Steel: 185 tons
Sohar Industrial Zone oil equipment maintenance workshop with 30-ton crane, coastal high salt-spray corrosion design. Hot-dip galvanizing + heavy-duty coatings, fire-rated coatings. Production: 6 weeks, 6 x 40HQ.
Area: 4,200 m² | Steel: 126 tons
Double-span portal frame, 10m eave height, high-temperature insulation design. 150mm rock wool sandwich panels, coastal corrosion protection. Production: 5 weeks, 4 x 40HQ.
Production: small 2-3 weeks, medium 4-6 weeks, large 6-10 weeks. Shipping: to Sohar/Salalah Port 18-25 days. Customs: 3-7 days. Inland: 1-3 days. Total from order to site: small ~5-7 weeks, medium ~7-10 weeks. Middle East shipping distance is moderate, Oman ports are efficient — overall transit time is relatively short.
Oman coastal areas (Muscat, Sohar, Salalah) have high temperature, high humidity, and high salt spray — extremely high corrosion requirements: (1) Main frames hot-dip galvanized (≥85μm), (2) Epoxy zinc-rich primer (80-100μm) over galvanizing, (3) Intermediate coat: epoxy micaceous iron oxide (60-80μm), (4) Topcoat: polyurethane or fluorocarbon (40-60μm), UV and salt spray resistant, (5) All bolts and nuts hot-dip galvanized, stainless steel bolts preferred, (6) Purlins use galvanized Z-sections or aluminum alloy, (7) Regular maintenance inspection, topcoat touch-up every 3-5 years, (8) We provide 15-20 year corrosion warranty. Oil facility areas also require fire protection.
Oman summer temperatures reach 45-50°C, steel design must consider: (1) Thermal stress: steel expands at high temperatures — expansion joints required for lengths over 150m, (2) Steel strength: strength slightly reduces at high temperatures — design with temperature reduction factors, (3) Roof insulation: 100-150mm rock wool sandwich panels to reduce indoor heat transfer and AC energy consumption, (4) Light-colored roofing: white/light gray roof coating to reflect solar radiation and reduce roof temperature, (5) Ventilation design: factory buildings with ventilation skylights and ridge ventilators using thermal buoyancy for natural ventilation, (6) Personnel comfort: office and control areas separately air-conditioned, (7) We have Middle East high-temperature region project design experience.
Oman has multiple free zones and special economic zones with attractive tax incentives: (1) Sohar Free Zone: import duty and VAT exemption on equipment and raw materials, 10-year corporate income tax exemption, 100% foreign ownership allowed, (2) Salalah Free Zone: similar incentives, focus on logistics and manufacturing, (3) Duqm Special Economic Zone: large-scale incentives, focus on petrochemicals, logistics, fisheries, (4) Muscat Free Zone: commercial and services, (5) Recommended project location in free zones can significantly reduce import costs and operating costs, (6) We can assist with equipment lists and HS codes for free zone incentive applications.
