Chinese prefab steel building manufacturer serving South Asia. Chittagong port clearance, 15+ years export experience.
The People's Republic of Bangladesh is located in South Asia, one of the world's most densely populated countries. With rapid economic growth and a thriving ready-made garment industry, demand for industrial factories and warehouses is strong. Capital: Dhaka. Main port: Chittagong. Official language: Bengali, English widely used in business.
Bangladesh lies in the Ganges Delta with a tropical monsoon climate — hot and humid year-round, heavy monsoon rains (June-October), and frequent flooding in low-lying areas.
Bangladesh is on the northern shore of the Bay of Bengal, affected by tropical cyclones. Wind load design is critical. Seismic activity is relatively low but designed per code.
Bangladesh follows the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC), with steel design referencing AISC and British Standards. Chinese standard designs accepted with English calculation packages.
Chittagong Port is Bangladesh's largest port, handling approximately 90% of imports and exports. Dhaka has an international airport but sea freight goes through Chittagong.
| Port | Location | Features | Shipping from China |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chittagong Port | Southeast coast | Largest port, handles most containers and general cargo | 12-18 days |
| Mongla Port | Southwest | Secondary port, serves western region | 15-20 days |
| Payra Port | South | New deep-water port, operational | 14-19 days |
Shipping Advice: Most projects import through Chittagong Port. Customs clearance: 5-10 days (congestion common at Chittagong). Inland transport: Dhaka 3-5 days, Chittagong city 1-2 days. Total transit (factory to site): ~25-35 days. Plan ahead and allow buffer for customs clearance.

Area: 3,200 m² | Steel Tonnage: 96 tons
Features: Double-span portal frame, 10m eave height, coastal wind-resistant design. Clear span for forklift operation. Production: 4 weeks, 3 x 40HQ containers.
Production: small 2-3 weeks, medium 4-6 weeks, large 6-10 weeks. Shipping: to Chittagong 12-18 days. Customs: 5-10 days (Chittagong congestion possible). Inland: 1-5 days. Total from order to site: small ~5-7 weeks, medium ~7-11 weeks. Allow buffer for customs.
Bangladesh has 70-90% humidity year-round: (1) Main frames hot-dip galvanized (≥85μm), (2) Epoxy zinc-rich primer (60-80μm) + polyurethane topcoat (40-60μm), (3) All bolts hot-dip galvanized, (4) Galvanized Z-purlins, (5) Roof slope ≥10% for rapid drainage, (6) Foundations elevated ≥300mm above flood level. 15-year corrosion warranty available.
Bangladesh follows BNBC referencing AISC. Chinese (GB) standard designs are accepted in practice: (1) Complete English structural calculation packages, (2) EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, (3) Review by locally registered Bangladeshi engineers, (4) Welding per AWS D1.1 or equivalent. We have South Asia project experience and can coordinate local engineers.
Chittagong is Bangladesh's busiest port: (1) Electronic pre-shipment declaration required, (2) Complete documents: invoice, packing list, B/L, certificate of origin, MTC, insurance, (3) Some goods require PSI, (4) Strongly recommend experienced local clearing agent, (5) Allow 5-10 days clearance, longer during congestion, (6) Verify HS codes to avoid duty disputes. We provide document templates and guidance.
